Siemens Smart Infrastructure has finalized the acquisition of a French firm Wattsense, a software and hardware start-up that provides a unique plug-and-play IoT management program for small and mid-size buildings, therefore increasing Siemens’ building product line. Wattsense was founded in 2017 and is centered in Dardilly, France.
Wattsense allows clients to connect and make IoT-enabled a wide range of devices while lowering entry barriers and capital expenditures. Multi-protocol devices can be simply onboarded before connecting to the cloud and operating in a Software as a Service (SaaS) architecture.
It extends the advantages of a computing IoT management platform for buildings to a broader range of real estate types, such as offices, schools, warehouses, and retail.
Siemens smart infrastructure is a forerunner in infrastructure digitalization, with over 2 million devices linked to its cloud platform. The company’s portfolio includes more than 145 web applications and solutions, and it has committed to double its digital sales from EUR 650 million to EUR 1 billion by 2025.
The acquisition of Wattsense additionally helps firms in the European Union comply with the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which mandates buildings in the tertiary sector to be fitted with automation and control systems that enhance energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.
Wattsense’s cutting-edge solution is available in twenty-two countries. Its objective is to create a zero-carbon future for buildings while increasing building operators’ efficiency and operations.
