According to the Facts & Factors report, the global 4-Amino diphenylamine market size was worth around USD 152 million in 2019 and is predicted to grow to around USD 210 million by 2026 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of roughly 4% between 2020 and 2026.
The Global 4-Amino Diphenylamine Market Is Driven by Increasing use of 4-Amino diphenylamine As a Chemical Intermediate During Manufacturing Antioxidants and Lubricants Which Are Used in Various Agrochemicals and by Rising Use of 4-Amino diphenylamine in Plastic and Rubber Industries.
4-Amino diphenylamine is a type of aromatic amine, which is obtained by reaction of 4-amino and diphenylamine. 4-Amino diphenylamine is odorless and purple-black solid in color. 4-Amino diphenylamine is present in the forms of needle and powder. This compound is slightly soluble in water as well as chloroform and is highly soluble in alcohol, acetone, and diethyl ether. This compound is incompatible with oxidizers such as hydrogen peroxide, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, etc. and strong acids like hydrochloric acid, hydrobromic acid, hydroiodic acid, etc. Several 4-amino diphenylamine derivatives with arylalkyl, alkyl, and cycloalkyl are antidegradants as well as antiozonants. 4-Amino diphenylamine is mainly used in production of aniline dyes as chemical intermediate. It is also used as a component in several lubricant additives.
Derivatives produced from 4-amino diphenylamine are used mainly used in oil and gas as well as rubber industries. 4-amino diphenylamine is also used in dye intermediates, photographic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc. 4-Amino diphenylamine is primarily used as antioxidants in some fuels. Antioxidants are used in fuels for enhancing storage stability, reduce gum formation, and improve refiner blending options. Additives such as antioxidants improve the induction period and annihilate free radical chain reactions.
Antioxidants find their application in various blended fuels such as biodiesel. 4-Amino diphenylamine are also used for producing various dye intermediates such as 4 – Amino diphenylamine-2 and 4 – Amino diphenyl sulfate. Dye intermediates are organic compounds which are used for manufacturing dyes. 4-Amino diphenylamine has also been used in lubricants, which are used in engines, brake fluids, etc. 4-Amino diphenylamine is used for preventing decomposition of lubricating oil by reacting with free radicals produced by oxidation.

The 4-amino diphenylamine market worldwide was projected at around USD 152 million in 2019, and by the end of 2026, due to rapid growth of the plastic and rubber industries as well as oil and gas industries the global 4-amino diphenylamine market is estimated to be worth around USD 210 million. Many industry experts predict that the 4-amino diphenylamine market globally is expected to grow at a CAGR of approximately 4%. The market is expected to grow at this rate owing to rapid growth in the plastic and rubber industries.
The demand for 4-aminodiphenylamine has increased in recent years due to its growing use in manufacturing antioxidants for fuels. Antioxidants are used in various fuels for preventing free radical chain reactions that may occur through oxidation. The use of 4-aminodiphenylamine for making antioxidants has increased as the demand for antioxidants has increased in oil and gas industry, due to increasing consumption of fuel. In 2019, the oil consumption globally has reached to a value of around 98 million barrels per day and the oil consumption worldwide was nearly 88 million barrels per day in 2011. This increase is attributed to increasing sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
This increase in the oil consumption has driven the use of antioxidants in the oil and gas industry, which, in turn, has driven the demand for 4-aminodiphenylamine for antioxidant applications. Further, antioxidants also find their applications in biodiesel. One of the main concerns of use of biodiesel is the ability to maintain fuel standards for longer duration. Antioxidants can be used for enhancing oxidative stability these fuels. Due to environmental concerns the use biodiesel is expected to increase in future, which may create new opportunities for the 4-aminodiphenylamine market. In 2019, the total biodiesel production in United States of America was nearly 1.72 billion gallons and United States of America also exported approximately 2.7 billion gallons in the year 2019. These trends are expected to create opportunities for the global 4-aminodiphenylamine market.
In terms of geography, North America dominated the global 4-aminodiphenylamine market in 2019 and was followed by Asia Pacific to hold the second largest market share in 2019. Asia Pacific is expected to record highest CAGR over the forecasted period mainly due to rapid growth in the plastic and rubber as well as dye industry in the region.
