Suramine is not bioavailable by mouth, and is intravenously administered. Inflammation or necrosis of the local tissue may lead to intramuscular and subcutaneous administration. Suramine, which is around 99-98 per cent serum bound protein, has an average half-life of 41-78 days for 50 days, while suramine pharmacokinetics that differ significantly between single patients. Suramine does not spread easily to the cerebral fluid, and its tissue concentration is less than its plasma concentration. Suramine is not metabolized widely and is excreted into the kidneys about 80 per cent.
Suramine is selected through a receptor-mediated endocytosis of medicinal products associated with low-density lipoproteins and to a lesser extent with other serum proteins. Once combined with proteins in parasites, especially trypanosomal glycolytic enzymes, suramine inhibits energy metabolism.
The Antiviral Drugs-segment was the largest segment of the market in 2019 on the basis of application. It is used as part of a SSRI combination therapy and has shown positive results, leading to more physicians preferring such drugs. Anticonvulsants act as a good mood stabiliser for illness by reducing the symptoms of fever and amnesia.
North America continues to dominate the global market for the treatment of bipolar disorders. The Asia Pacific market is expected to rise at a faster rate of growth as a result of increased awareness among people, increased investment in R&D, the use of skilled labor to produce products and increased investment by the pharmaceutical industry.
